As part of the Great Place: HR Redesign, more than 500 employees have joined VCU as University and Academic Professionals, the university’s newest employee group. Of nearly 900 VCU Administrative and Professional Faculty, nearly 750 are expected to transition to the new employee group on July 1, 2018 alongside the Classified employees who enroll in the new HR plan.
University and Academic Professionals are not represented by VCU’s current shared governance constituent bodies, Faculty Senate, Staff Senate and University Council. VCU President Michael Rao appointed the Inclusive Governance Task Force to examine VCU's system of shared governance and identify potential alternatives to ensure all employees can fully participate in governance structures and processes.
Timeline
A university governance model, based on university community feedback and leadership approval, will be developed with the goal to begin implementation by July 2018.
